Gadgets & Gizmos: Little Printer
Little Printer, by Berg, is our newest electronic must-have. Who knew we would ever feel this way about a … printer? So, here’s the deal: It functions through your iPhone or Android app through a berg cloud. You can wirelessly print your own personal newspaper from your tweets, text messages from friends, favorite publications, or data collecting apps like Nike+.
One of our favorite features: Connected to the Web, Little Printer has a range of “publications” available to check on your behalf. You can subscribe to your favorites and choose when you woud like them delivered. At that set time, Little Printer gathers everything it needs to prepare a little personalized package to print as you like. You can get deliveries multiple times a day, “like your very own morning or evening newspaper”. The printer is the size of a small cube with paper about the width of an iPhone and 10 inches long.
Why are we going back to paper? CEO Matt Web offers this:
We love physical stuff. Connecting products to the Web lets them become smarter and friendlier –- they can sit on a shelf and do a job well, for the whole family or office –- without all the attendant complexities of computers, like updates or having to tell them what to do. Little Printer is more like a family member or a colleague than a tool.
He also offers,
Paper is like a screen that never turns off. You can stick to the fridge or tuck it in your wallet. You can scribble on it or tear it and give it to a friend.
We agree! Have you tried digging up a tweet from weeks ago to which you would like to refer from time to time? And you have dozens of “Favorited” tweets? This little gizmo will come in handy and will become a favorite just like another little project that many didn’t “get” when it first came out. Twitter.
Nike, Arup, Foursquare, Google and The Guardian are launch partners of the tiny printer. We do wish it had a cooler name like “Mini P” or “Mini Pree”. Little Printer will be available in 2012. For more info visit Bergcloud.com
