Mark Cross: An American Classic Exclusively at Barney’s

The saddle and harness-making company established in 1845, Mark Cross, launches Collection I by Mark Cross which includes bag structures reintroduced from the company’s vintage archives. Of particular note, the company’s overnight case featured in Alfred Hitchcock’s Rear Window carried by actress Grace Kelly in the film, or the “Grace Box”. The sleek carrying case includes updated features like a detachable shoulder strap and an interior zipper pocket.

There has been quite a few Princess Grace of Monaco references lately as companies look to mimick her style and grace. The “Collection I” by Mark Cross is inspired by the American icon. Like the Pennsylvania native, the handbags are refined and classic in design sans the extra detailing found in current collections. The neatly structured bags are made of Italian leathers and in easy to transition colors including nude, black, mustard, and pavone (deep blue).

The “Collection I”, which also includes satchels, carrying cases, and clutches, debuts at Barney’s stores at the end of the month and ranges between $1495 and $2350.
