Riccardo Tisci presented the Givenchy spring 2016 collection for the first time during New York Fashion Week. The show, which took place at Pier 26, commenced at sunset setting the scene for a reflective runway show to be cherished for quite some time. Celebrities filled the front rows including the usual – Kim Kardashian and Kanye West – as well as Nicki Minaj, Steve and Liv Tyler, Margot Robbie, Ciara, Courtney Love, and Julia Roberts to name a few. The theme, intentionally set on 9/11, “I Believe in the Power of Love.”
The collection boasted 91 women’s and men’s looks of the tuxedo inspiration. Elongated trousers matched with equally elongated jackets and lace and frilled tops spilling from underneath; slip dresses of all lengths for women; strong yet fitted trousers and shirts for men still easily moving with the body with each movement. The softness of the black and white collection brought the beauty to each piece.
In the last quarter of the show, the evening looks stunned as they were accompanied with facial decorations made of lace, frills, jewels and things set to appear as masks. A-foot, a similar treat of pointed, laced mules or lace up slingback elegantly trimmed in lace which will easily top the list of spring’s most featured shoes.
