If you missed the arrivals at the 23rd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, special moments on the red carpet were scarce as the industry casually made their way to The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles to celebrate and honor their peers.  Taraji P. Henson delivered the best red carpet moment in a nude sheer Reem Acra ball gown that was made for a winner. Henson and crew took the award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.

While most looks drowned in their simplicity and redundancy, a few starlets arrived in gowns befitting the fantasy and spectacle of the industry. Michelle Williams continues to defy expectations on the red carpet in a Louis Vuitton column gown that was all too smart while the simplicity of Natalia Dyer Miu Miu gown won us over with the floral features about the bust.

Stripes were a fresh feature on the red carpet with Yara Shahidi, Michelle Williams, Michelle Dockery, and Naomie Harris donning vertical or horizontal lines. The last of this group succeeding the least in championing vertical lines.

Here are the looks which saved us from a complete unremarkable red carpet…
